Now that someo of the newer partners have gotten more comfortable with strikes (from what I hear) I would suggest that we try to incorporate simple bogu drills into our kendo practice. Kiri-kaeshi by itself would be great. Those not in bogu can still perform the striking part of the exercise and focus on the kendo basics that kiri-kaeshi helps us to improve on. Personally, I could use loads of kiri-kaeshi as my basics are a little wobbly these days. Other drills such as men, kote, and do are good as well. For those of us in bogu these drills can be modified slightly to make the attacker take center before striking instead of the target being opened for them (again, I need lots of practice in taking center and developing the correct feeling of when I have it). And then a 1 minute or so keiko is just always fun to do ;D. Personally I also like the kata practice. I'm still holding out some hope of testing for ni-dan in the near future and so would like to keep working on refining my kata; I also just believe that it is an important part of kendo.
